Conclave on Cyber Security (CCS’17)

The Conclave on Cyber Security (CCS’17) has been organized by the Department of Information Technology at SSN College of Engineering coordinated by Dr. S. Karthika, ASP/IT, Dr. S. Chithra ASP/IT and Dr. N. Bhalaji, ASP/IT in association with IEEE Computer Society Madras Section and National Cyber Defence Research Centre (NCDRC). The objectives of the conclave on cyber-security attempted to bring together cyber-security experts, academicians, and IT industry representatives under one roof. The event explored cyber security research approaches and New-Age Enterprises. The event saw more than 50 participants from SSN College of Engineering and various other institutions like Kongu Engineering College, DMI College, Hindusthan University, Loyola College, Valliammai Engineering College etc.
The conclave started with the welcome address by Dr. N. Bhalaji, ASP/IT, Co-ordinator CCS’17. It was followed by the keynote lecture delivered by Mr. Sathish Ashwin, Head Research & Operations, National Technical Committee, National Cyber Defence Research Centre (NCDRC), India. He introduced the classified and unclassified data security issues in the real-world and discussed about social engineering. Dr. S. Chithra, ASP/IT and Dr. S. Karthika, ASP/IT, Co-ordinators CCS’17 introduced the participants to the technical jargons in the field of cyber security to ease their understanding of the day. This talk was followed by parallel sessions handled by Dr. Harish Ramani, Director & Chief Technology Officer, Internettechies Solutions Pvt. Ltd addressing the Ifs and BUTs of cyber security to UG students and Dr. N. Kala, Director i/c, Centre for Cyber Forensics and Information Security, University of Madras, Chennai addressing PG/ Research Scholars and Faculty members on recent trends in the cyber research. In the hands-on session, Dr. Harish and Mr. Vignesh introduced the students to many security tools. The event had highly interactive participants.
